Over his 37 year career Mr. McLaughlin has concentrated on the areas of bankruptcy, debtor/creditor rights, foreclosure defense, and bankruptcy and commercial litigation. Mr. McLaughlin’s expertise representing creditors, debtors, and trustees was developed while working in several major law firms.

Mr. McLaughlin is a former member of the private panel of Chapter 7 trustees, having served as Chapter 7 trustee from 1988 through 1993. He continues to represent trustees in the administration of their cases. He has also served in state court liquidation proceedings known as Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors as the assignee in the case charged with the responsibility to administer the sale of any assets.

Mr. McLaughlin has represented debtors, creditors, commercial landlords, trustees and secured creditors in varied Chapter 11, 13 and 7 cases in New Jersey. Mr. McLaughlin has also handled complex commercial litigation. One significant case was an action to set aside a fraudulent transfer of assets under the New Jersey Fraudulent Transfer Act. During trial, a large settlement recovery was obtained for a client. Mr. McLaughlin has been successful in collection of several substantial judgments over the course of his career. Mr. McLaughlin has represented secured lenders in complex Chapter 11 proceedings.
